Marina map
How to use the marina map?
The marina map is a high-quality interactive marina map that shows the entire space of the marina in scale. Navigating the map is easy and carried out by placing the cursor at a specific position on the map or menu.
The marina map presents all the important buildings in the marina within a defined area, but more importantly, it presents all the berths and docks in a marina, both in water and on land. Each boat in the marina is shown on the marina map with its exact berth position, size and status.
By using the scroll option on a mouse, the map view can be increased or decreased.
Inventory and Contract view
The marina map can be used in different ways. When accessing the map, we can choose between two views: - the Inventory view and the Contract view.
In the Inventory view, we are presented the as-is situation in the marina. The information presented in this view are primarily the result of daily dock walks.
In the Contract view, we see the contract boats and their status in the marina. Note however, that just because a contract boat is present in the Contract view doesn't mean that the boat is actually present in the marina at the time of accessing the marina map. That's what the Inventory view is for.
These two views serve different roles and can be wildly different from each other.
The inventory status is important for day-to-day inventory and the actual boat status, and the contract view is important in regard to sales and contract planning and activities.
To choose/change the Marina map view, use the buttons in the upper left corner.
Berth statuses
When looking at the Marinacloud marina map, you will see a key for interpreting the various colours assigned to individual berths. The text might change based on your language, but it should look something like this:
Inventory view
Draft / unregistered transit (ZTN): A berth with this status has an unregistered transit (draft) assigned to it. A transit draft is a transit order registered without any or with very little information about the boat and/or customer, and as such must be further processed.
Transit drafts are most frequently created when a boat announces their arrival to your marina via a radio station or the like, or when a mariner registers a boat but without taking the boat's documents.
The Registered transit status is the regular status for all transit boats in your marina that are not leaving today.
Vessel relocated (ZPM): This status is assigned to berths with temporarily assigned contract boats. In other words, when a boat is temporarily relocated from its original berth using the Marinacloud mobile application, the original berth will be assigned the Temporary free berth (SLP) status and the new berth to which the boat is assigned will get the Vessel relocated (ZPM) status.
Temporary free berth (SLP): This status is assigned to berths that are currently available, but will be taken by a contract boat at a specific point in the future. For example, a berth will be assigned this status when a contract boat is set to arrive in the future, either for the first time or after an announced absence, or if the contract boat is temporarily relocated to another berth (see also Vessel relocated (ZPM) above).
Tentatively free berth (SLU): This status is assigned to berths that are currently available, but will be taken by a contract boat at some point in the future. It is important to note that, unlike with the Temporary free berth (SLP) status, for Tentatively free berth (SLU) we do not know when the contract boat is set to arrive - most frequently due to an unannounced absence.
Charter vessel (ZCB): This status is assigned to berths which hold a boat that is given the charter tag.
Transit leaving today: This status is assigned to berths holding transit boats that are set to leave today. This is a regular state, but also one that must be paid special attention to. Every marina has a set time by which transit boats are expected to leave the marina. If you do your daily dock walk after this set time and you have a berth in this status, you know that the transit boat has stayed longer than charged/paid for, and as such you need to charge them for another day, or ask them to leave the marina.
Contract view
Contracts section.
Fixed-term contract: Berths in this status are assigned to contract boats with a contract that has a set end date. For more information on contracts, please see theContracts section.
Open-ended contract: Berths in this status are assigned to contract boats without a set end date. For more information on contracts, please see theIntegration with video surveillance
A further upgrade of this Marina map feature is available with LiveCAM. We integrated video surveillance into Marinacloud to provide a real-time view of every single berth in the marina (assuming it is covered with surveillance cameras). This upgrade adds on reliability and saves hundreds of working hours for the marina staff.
Available berths for transit
Each marina has boats that are only visiting for a few days or weeks - the common name for visiting boats is Transit. When a transit boat arrives in a marina, the competent marina operator has to know which berths are available to accommodate that transit boat.
A marina operator has to check these facts with the skipper of the transit boat:
- the boat size
- the number of days the boat is staying in the marina

Absences of the contract boats
Menu | Description |
---|---|
To check the list of announced absences, click the Contract view of the marina map. Click Absences in the bottom right corner of your screen, and a list of all berths with active announced absences will show up. Announced absences are a system by which a contractual boat announces their absence from the marina. Berths with an announced absence have the SLP status on your marina map, along with the arrival date of the contractual boat, e.g. SLP until 20.08.2017. If we are aware of this information, we can safely accommodate a transit boat on the specific berth until 20.08.2017. Read more on How to create an absence in the Contracts module |
